Good Vibrations was a record label set up in Belfast during the troubles. It was a place for young people to release their music when nobody else would. And their music was like nothing else anyone was making. It was around the time that punk music was really taking off and nobodies music was any rougher and more honest than that which was being produced in Belfast.
I think this would make a fantastic model to base our production company because that is certainly an attitude I could get behind. Probably the most famous song Good Vibrations recorded was Teenage Kicks by The Undertones. I find it amazing that the only reason we have such an iconic song was because someone was willing to take a chance and produce it when nobody else would. There's something very punk not just about the style of the song, but the entire way it was produced.
Nobody wants me to make films. Nobody is going to hand anything to me. It's up to me to take it. I think Good Vibrations proved that.
