Shadowing Director

I thought it would be a really useful thing to do to shadow a professional director. I'm sure they would have lots of advice to offer me, but it would be an amazing, unique experience to be able to see them at work. I am going to send a whole stack of emails out, because the more I send out, the more likely someone is to get back to me. However, using the same technique, I had a great experience getting in touch with Leo McGuigan. In fact, I am still in touch with Leo, so he might well be willing to let me shadow him on his next film! We'll have to see.

However, Northern Ireland Screen are running an opportunity to shadow a director, and it's actually a paid placement. But the thing is, I don't actually fulfil all the criteria. They require you to have directed three short films, which isn't an issue, but they require at least two of them to be funded through a UK/Irish public body or broadcaster. This unfortunately isn't something I have. But I thought it would be worth firing my name in there anyway. After all, what could go wrong? I probably won't get it, but if I didn't fire my name in, then I definitely wouldn't get the position.

So I've applied for the position.
