Hey!
Despite the title of this post, I’m actually in quite a good mood having just finished the first draft of a screenplay. It’s working title is ‘Armed Hold-Up’ and is about a bank heist. I always love the buzz I get when I feel like I’m actually being productive!
However, things are looking less positive in other aspects of my film life. I need another short film idea for the course and I’ve completely hit a wall. I’ve also made no progress on my feature film since the last post, which is just depressing. These need a lot of work, but getting started is always daunting.
I also need to start work on my Film Theory essay, which has a looming deadline. I have no idea what I will do for it as there just seems to be so much research needed and so little time to do it all.
I haven’t watched as many films this week, but they are:
The Godfather Part 2 is a very good film. I’d even go so far as to say it’s an excellent film. I absolutely love seeing a young Vito finding himself in America. Michael has some absolutely incredible moments too, particularly those involving Fredo. There were strong performances, directing, cinematography and writing, however the films is just too long. I nearly wish it was split into two separate films. But over all, it is very good. 8/10
Heat is very tense and I really enjoyed it. Not an awful lot to say about it really, but I enjoyed the last scene in particular with the De Nero and Pacino showdown in the airfield. Very good, but I might give it a rewatch some time because I watched it very late at night and was half falling asleep in parts! 8/10
Music-wise I listened to The Planets by Holst and it is absolutely incredible. Might work in a film some time.
