I was very unsure at the acting workshop, however, I actually think we found an actor who was decent. The actors I worked with were Michael Robertson, Aodhán Mallon and Ryan Stoddart. Ryan Stoddart wasn't bad. In talking to him, he seemed like a lovely guy and he genuinely seemed to really like the script. I think I'll try to stay in touch with him and maybe see if he's interested in playing Kane in the taster film. He's a bit too theatrical, but given a bit of time, I think he'd be able to do a really good job.
I took some really interesting notes at the workshop. Catriona asked all of the actors to name one thing which they find helps them get into character. I took some notes;
- Working out character's thought processes. Focus on micro-thoughts.
- Something that makes the character human. Maybe embarrassing.
- Finding physical ticks that everyone has.
- A character speaks socially acceptably, but what are they really thinking inside?
Costume helps get into the character's heads.
- Specific memories to think about during the scene.
- Playlist of music that reflects tone.
- Work out the character's posture and their walk.
- Identify their negative qualities. What are they hiding?
- Keeps a journal of the character's secrets and dark thoughts.
- Work out the kind of music the character listens to.
