Big Script Changes

Radio Underground just changed significantly. Aaron and I have been working incredibly closely for a long time on this script now. We both really like it. However, it needs to be longer. We have so much we want to say and do; we have so many ideas a lot of which are good. However, we have a maximum of six minutes for this film. Only six minutes. We probably have enough ideas for around twenty!

I came up with the idea of cutting the dead body. While the body is key to the whole film; it's what the film is about; I don't think we have the time to tell that story. I love that story. But we can't make it yet. However, Aaron is still very attached to the idea. We've struggled for weeks now, but it's not going anywhere and I think it's time to shelf it.

Finally, after a lot of back and forth, he agreed. We decided to take another element of our planning and give it a much more significant role in the film. I came up with the idea of Tom consistently doing radio broadcasts, and we joked about him broadcasting as a cheap local radio show. We seem to be taking this joke and running with it. Tom now has a radio instead of a dead best friend.

That's not all though. We also decided it would be effective to see Tom actually leave the bunker. We wanted to see the outside world. Obviously he would have to wear some kind of a gas mask. It would be nice to see him scavenging for food. I don't think the outside world should really be typical for a post apocalyptic film. I don't think there should be buildings toppling over and bodies lying everywhere. I think it would be more haunting and impactful to have it be just like our own world, but empty of all people.

Anyway, here is the script as it currently stands:

Reflections

Third year is done. I don't think that's how anyone would have wanted the year to end, but there you go. It's a particular shame, because...
