Well, now I'm conflicted.
So another group of really interesting actors applied for the role. Again, some were better than others, however I am now in a very frustrating position. More on that soon.
Here are a few more examples of actors who applied.
John McQuiston was solid. He looked like he could handle himself and he seemed like a very nice man. Ruth really liked him. However, I really wasn't sold on him. There wasn't really enough going on in his eyes and again, he had a tendency to stop acting when he wasn't the one speaking.
Steve Walker is one of the better people I saw. I think he did a good job, however he looked more like a fisherman than a killer. He didn't seem to fully grasp Ellis' philosophy. I liked Steve he's probably one of the frontrunners for the role.
Rhys Anderson made things complicated. Firstly, he's a lot younger than I was looking. I wanted someone middle aged and that he is not. However, honestly, more than any other actor I've seen for the role, I really get a sense of weariness off of Rhys, which is odd considering he is by far the youngest person to audition. He grasped the dark side of Ellis, while suggesting his inner turmoil. I really loved what he was doing. In all honesty, he has everything other than the age. Is the age really that important? I'm not sure it is. The weariness is more important than the age.
