Film Adaptation 1: A Waste of Honey

Updated: Jan 24, 2020

The term has started and it’s back to the old swing of things. In Film Adaptation we’ve been looking at ‘A Taste of Honey’ by Shelagh Delaney. To be honest, I’m not really a fan of it. It just feels like it’s trying to hammer home social issues, yet it has no depth, substance or entertainment value. The film adaptation of it is somehow worse. However, there is a lot in the play which could be played around with. I have had three possible ideas:

  1. What happened to the sailor after he left?

  2. What happened to Jo’s child, growing up in the 60s and 70s?

  3. What do other people in the area think of Jo being pregnant?

I am in a group with Harris Palmer, Harris Redpath and Aaron Ross for the taster film. They seem to like my third idea.
