Gallows

Aaron Ross and I have written a TV pilot episode and series outline for a dark comedy about a young man, Andrew Mort, who works in a 9 to 5 office job where he is employed as a hitman. Andrew must decide whether he should risk everything to follow his dream of becoming a musician or stay in his secure but monotonous job.


I'm really proud of it. It's far from perfect; I'd like to come back to it at some point and rewrite a lot of it. But at its heart, I think it's pretty good. I really like the characters. I've always enjoyed character studies, like Taxi Driver, and the first episode functions essentially as a character study. Much of what Andrew feels are things that I too have felt, so it's been really useful to have an outlet.


After the pilot, we very much delve deeper and explore Andrew's world much more, but the pilot itself never actually leaves Andrew's side. We see everything as he sees it. If you for some reason have any desire to read the current draft of the script, here it is:
