Blake Snyder's Save the Cat is a pretty controversial book. I don't agree with everything he says, but it was very interesting to read. There are certainly some ideas in the book that I find useful. Anyway, here are my notes:
- The save the cat scene is where you introduce your character doing something that defines them and makes us like him.
- Write your logline before you write your script. It'll keep you focused and make sure you know exactly what you're writing.
- Every logline, no matter the genre, should be soaked in irony.
- Your logline must allow you to see the whole movie. It has to promise a lot.
- Your title should also convey what the film is about, also ideally with a sense of irony.
